Nestled in the Okambara mountains, Okambara Elephant Lodge offers diverse accommodations, each designed to enhance your experience. Most of the rooms at Okambara Elephant Lodge feature thatched roofs, providing a naturally cooler environment during the summer months and promoting a healthier atmosphere through the use of natural materials. Each room is equipped with either a ceiling fan or a standing fan, ensuring a comfortable stay. Additionally, en suite facilities, mosquito nets, and a private balcony or terrace allow you to fully enjoy the surrounding beauty. While WiFi is available in the lounge areas of the main house, there is no WiFi in the rooms, encouraging a true escape. A laundry service is also available for your convenience. At Okambara, your stay promises comfort, simplicity, and a deep connection with the Namibian landscape.
The fort
The main building, boasting four towers, echoes the aesthetics of an old castle or Namibian fort, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere for your Namibian adventure. Built by hand using natural stones from the farm, it stands as a testament to craftsmanship and dedication. Local workers, along with Günther Schmitt, who initially bought the farm in 1990, and his son Christian Schmitt, spent six years constructing this remarkable structure, which was completed in the year 2000.

Rondavels

A “rondavel” is a traditional, circular-shaped dwelling with a thatched roof, typically found in various African cultures. The term is commonly used in South Africa and Namibia. Rondavels are known for their simple yet effective design, often constructed using local materials. The rounded structure and thatched roofing contribute to the rondavel’s distinct appearance, reflecting a blend of cultural heritage and practical architecture.

Poolhouse
Welcome to the Pool House at Okambara Elephant Lodge – true to its name, situated next to the pool for the perfect family retreat. Accommodating 5-7 people, the Pool House features a family apartment with an en suite bathroom and an additional double room with its own en suite bathroom – ideal, perhaps, for the grandparents.
Enjoy a cool and shaded atmosphere surrounded by lush trees. Parents can relax on the terrace, keeping a watchful eye on the children as they swim and play in the pool. The Pool House is crafted for family moments and a refreshing escape into nature at Okambara.
